Tesla's Boombox plays sounds from a USB drive, and the lock chime is the one everybody hears. Getting a sound onto the car normally means an audio editor, a format conversion, and a filename rule that fails silently if you get it wrong.

Why sounds fail on the car

The most common reason a Boombox sound doesn't appear is a filename or format the car rejects without saying so. Custom Shop's drive diagnostic reads a drive and tells you exactly which file broke which rule — where Tesla's own screen says only that something is invalid.

The duration rule matters too: the car enforces a length window on the lock chime specifically, not on ordinary Boombox sounds, and the app applies it exactly where it belongs.

How do I add a custom lock chime to my Tesla?

Put a file named LockChime.wav in a folder called Boombox at the root of a USB drive formatted as exFAT or FAT32, plug it into the car, and enable Boombox. Custom Shop records, trims, and exports in the exact format and filename the car expects.
