The part most shows get wrong
Tesla's light show format documents limits on how often closures — the charge port, mirrors, windows, doors — may be commanded during a show. Exceed them and you're cycling real hardware far harder than it was designed for.
We measured two popular community shows against those limits: they command the charge port 65 and 71 times respectively, against a documented limit of 3. Custom Shop's generator treats the budget as a hard constraint and allocates closure moments to the song's structural peaks, so the show is dramatic where it matters and quiet everywhere else.
Verified against a real car
The .fseq writer and reader were built against Tesla's published format and confirmed on an actual Model Y: the app's decoder reads real community shows and xLights exports without error, and generated shows play on the car. Format details like the 32-byte header layout were confirmed byte by byte rather than assumed.
Shows export as a matched .fseq and audio pair, named and placed the way the car expects, ready for a USB drive's LightShow folder.
