Make a custom Tesla wrap from a photo
How it works
Tesla's Paint Shop accepts a PNG per vehicle and shows it on your car's 3D avatar. Building one normally means downloading a template, opening a desktop editor, and guessing at rules Tesla never wrote down. Custom Shop does the whole pipeline from a photo on your phone.
- Pick a photo — it's tiled into a repeating pattern, at the density measured from Tesla's own published example wraps, so it reads on every panel instead of arriving in unrecognisable fragments.

Why a photo needs tiling
A wrap template isn't a picture of a car — it's roughly fifteen scattered UV islands. Lay one photo across it and the car shows fragments that don't adjoin: a face in pieces, a head on the rear quarter, an ear on a door. Every one of Tesla's own published example wraps is a pattern or texture, not a photograph, for exactly this reason.
So Custom Shop tiles by default, at about five repeats across the canvas — the period measured from Tesla's own Leopard and Dot Matrix examples. Your dog becomes a dog-print wrap, which is a far better result than a shredded portrait, and it's precisely what Tesla's own Doge wrap is.
Every vehicle, including the awkward one
All twelve variants Tesla publishes templates for: Model 3 (2017+ and 2024+, including Performance), Model Y (2020+, 2025+ Standard/Premium/Performance, and Model Y L), Model S (2021+ and 2025 Plaid), Model X (2021+), and Cybertruck.
Cybertruck's template is 1024 × 768 where every other vehicle's is square, and its body maps as two continuous flanks rather than separate doors. Custom Shop handles both as first-class cases rather than stretching a square design onto a rectangle.
Getting it onto the car
Export writes a PNG that satisfies Tesla's rules — 1024 px, under 1 MB, and a filename within the 30-character limit that includes the extension (a detail that silently fails on the car if you get it wrong). Copy it to a USB drive's Wraps folder, or upload it through Tesla's own app, then apply it in Toybox → Paint Shop → Wraps.

How do I make a custom wrap for my Tesla's Paint Shop?
Pick any photo in Custom Shop. It's tiled into a pattern fitted to your exact vehicle's template, previewed on a live 3D car or in AR, then exported as a PNG that meets Tesla's 1024 px and 1 MB requirements. What size does a Tesla wrap need to be?
Tesla accepts PNGs from 512x512 up to 1024x1024, at most 1 MB, with a filename of 30 characters or fewer including the .png extension. Cybertruck's template is 1024x768 rather than square. Custom Shop enforces every one of those rules at export time so a file never silently fails.
Why does my photo look wrong on the car?
A wrap template is a UV unwrap — a set of scattered panel shapes, not a picture of a car. A single photo laid across it arrives on the car in fragments. Tiling the image so each panel receives whole copies is what makes a photo readable as a wrap, and it is what every one of Tesla's own example wraps does.
Can I see the wrap on my car before applying it?
Yes. Custom Shop renders your design on a live 3D model that re-textures as you edit, and can place the wrapped car at real scale in your own driveway in AR. The 3D body is an approximation built from published dimensions; the exported PNG is pixel-exact regardless.
